We’re Karishma & Nisha - two mums from North West London who turned a moment of uncertainty into a creative journey.

When maternity leave ended, we faced redundancy and zero flexibility after 20 years combined in Marketing and Fashion Design. Instead of giving up, we decided to start something of our own, and that’s how Emi & Koa was born in 2021.

It all started with one idea: to reinvent the traditional Rakhi. After hearing Karishma’s brothers complain year after year about uncomfortable designs, we created a more modern, minimal and wearable alternative - made with soft, durable 100% cotton string that doesn’t bleed or stain.

What began as one luxury handmade product, soon grew into a celebration of craft and culture from elegant Diwali décor and gifting to personalised Dandiya sticks that make every moment a keepsake.
